The GOMO (going out more often) project

DEUTSCH:
xoxo Jessy.

ENGLISH:
Great partys, happy people, colourful places – and a jealous person. This is us when we are going through our Facebook, Instagram or Twitter feed. I was inspired by the website Eventbrite, who currently has a called project GOMO (going out more often). Since I can identify with this topic so well, I want to share with you my opinion about this!
GOMO (going out more often) is a project to fight FOMO (fear of missing out). I mean, we all know this negative feeling, when we see that our friends and sometimes even foreign persons had a great time without us, while we were sitting in the bed again and watching dvds the whole time, instead of going out. I had this feeling for such a long time. At new year I made the intent to be more spontineously this year and not to pass a single chance to experience a great event. Even though, usually you forget those intents after some months I really was able to obey this one. I tried to do as much as possible and to go out often. Why should we tolerate this uncomfortable feeling when it’s so easy to change? Take your friends and go to the next event in your town – no matter if it’s a concert, a dinner or a poolparty, you’ll sure find something. When you want to make it easier, you can even detect attendance to events using their website. There you can find a list of events in your area and have a helpful overview so you can see who's going to be at the event. Furthermore, you avoid to miss events and you don’t have to think about FOMO. Of course, you easily reach your tickets via this website, too.
Also I have to mention that my friends all moved away since they’re studying or working and so I’m “alone“ in my home town. But instead of sitting in my room all the time and always getting more sad and lonely while others are having the time of their lives I go out – alone. I started going alone to partys or concerts. First it was a weird feeling and of course, it’s even more beautiful with friends, but why not? When you are going to an event the people there have at least one common ground with you. So you have the chance to get to know new people and if not, then you don’t have to have the feeling that you missed something. For example, I decided some months ago that I want to attend a festival this year. First, I wanted to go there with some friends but unfortunately they are not able to go there now. So I go there by myself and I’m sure that I’ll have a great time at the Frequency Festival at thursday. Another highlight this year is the Justin Bieber concert in November, where I’m gonna go with a friend. Sure, you are not able to be at every event and party but I really would recommend you to go out more often, to support GOMO and to leafe the negative feeling of FOMO behind you. Instead of thinking about how much fun others had you are then able to think about how much fun you had while experiencing.
xoxo Jessy.
